After a long and well-deserved summer vacation and winning her first Grammy, Miley Cyrus is more than ready to get back to work, and she’s doing it in her signature bold way. As the cover star of the new Harper’s Bazaar issue, the pop icon revealed that she’s been hard at work on new music. Her upcoming project promises to deliver heavy doses of 80s rock vibes.
According to the interview, her 9th studio album will be titled Something Beautiful. It’s described as a conceptual and visual album that, in its own way, attempts to medicate a sick culture through music.
With the aim of becoming a vibrational change agent, Miley shared that the album is deeply inspired by Pink Floyd. She said, “I feel a deep connection to it. My idea was to make The Wall, but with better costumes—more glamorous and full of pop culture.”
If that wasn’t intriguing enough, Miley admitted she has no interest in being predictable. “I’m specifically unspecific,” she said. She also shared that she’s likely to change her mind on different topics, embracing life’s contradictions. “Who hasn’t experienced conflicting emotions at some point? I live for it. It’s like yin and yang. You can’t have one without the other. It’s heaven and hell; darkness and light. It’s everything,” she explained.
In August, Miley was honored as a Disney Legend, and while she holds a degree of fondness for the franchise, she opened up about how being a child star shaped her in unique ways. “It made me a very different adult compared to some of my peers or friends. It’s just a very different childhood,” she said, adding, “For a while, it made me feel like fame was a barrier to connecting with people.”
Regarding her fame, Miley reflected, “Because of who I am as a person, yes, I feel like I can connect with people, and I feel like I’m everyone’s friend. But because of how I grew up, sometimes people make it harder for me. I can let go of my own personality easily, but it’s hard for others to separate the fame from me.”
With Something Beautiful, Miley Cyrus seems poised to deliver an album that will captivate fans both musically and visually. Inspired by rock legends like Pink Floyd but infused with her own glamorous, pop-centric twist, the record promises to be one of her most ambitious and thought-provoking works to date.
The truth is that, even though the ‘Flowers’ star has shared more details about her upcoming project, there is still no release date. ‘Something Beautiful’ is expected to drop sometime in 2025.
