When we talk about Argentine music making a global impact, we really mean it. In recent years, Argentina’s urban music scene has produced a bunch of musical stars, and one of the brightest is María Becerra. This young talent, who’s also part of the ‘Los del Espacio’ collective, has been topping charts worldwide with hits like «Automático,» «Qué más pues?» and «Ojalá.»
With two successful albums, La Nena de Argentina and Animal, María is undoubtedly one of today’s biggest Spanish-language music stars. So, it’s no surprise that she was chosen to kick off the New Year at one of the world’s most famous spots: Times Square in New York City.

On the night of December 31st, María took the stage in the city that never sleeps, alongside other big-name artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Meghan Thee Stallion, and Flo Rida. María was the only Spanish-speaking artist in the lineup, and that’s quite an achievement. It seems that in 2024, she may be focusing on solidifying her position as one of the most-listened-to Hispanic singers in the United States.
For her Times Square performance, María sang one of her biggest hits from 2023: «Corazón Vacío.» She looked great, wearing a sporty outfit that included a shiny black puffer jacket, a furry hat, and high-waisted black jeans.
María shared her heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to perform in one of the world’s most iconic places, saying, “We welcomed 2024 by singing in Times Square. I’m thankful for everything life has in store for me, and this is like a dream come true. I’m super happy to represent Argentina here today. I love you all.”

María also took a moment to reflect on her exciting 2023, a year filled with surprises. “We released some amazing tracks, and I had the privilege of working with incredible artists. But most importantly, I got to connect with many of you who have been supporting me from different parts of the country and the world, and that fills my heart with happiness,” wrote the young artist.
To wrap it up, María hinted at new music that’ll get us dancing. That’s what we’re really looking forward to: “Get ready for an even better 2024.”
