Manuel Turizo has dropped «Dios Te Cuide,» (May God take care of you) the lead single from his much-anticipated fourth studio album, 201. His last album, 2000, came out just over a year ago and, according to ROLLING STONE en Español, was one of the standout albums of 2023. With the Colombian artist’s talent, we can expect nothing less from his fourth album, set to arrive by the end of this year.
Turizo is one of the most versatile artists in music today. He’s shown us he can make us dance to bachata and merengue, but he can also make us remember a loved one and break our hearts. «Dios Te Cuide,» produced by Rafa Rodríguez, features the Colombian artist delivering a heartbreaking declaration of love lost and the pain and resilience after a breakup.
In the song, he wishes his ex-love the best, asking God to take care of her but also to keep her away from him because she broke his heart, calling it the worst mistake he ever made.
I remember when I held your hand with mine
The same hand now holding this bottle
To help me forget for a while that I miss you
Even though you come back every night like the stars
You say it hurts a lot, but I know it doesn’t
You don’t feel even 10% of what I felt
I’m not looking for revenge, I hold no grudge against you
I wish you the best
May God take care of you, baby, and keep you safe
And may He forget, baby
Where He kept you
So you don’t break my heart again, woh-oh-oh-oh
May God take care of you, baby, and keep you safe
And may He forget, baby
Where He kept you
So you don’t break my heart again, woh-oh-oh-oh
I’m not complaining that you’re gone
That you loved me is an old story I know too well
Of course, I want to have you, but far away
Keep talking, I’ll let you
Keep talking, I’ll let you, woh-oh-oh-oh
You’re so important to me
That you are that story I won’t repeat
I swear I won’t forget you, I’ll remember you
You’ll stay in my memory as the worst mistake I made
May God take care of you, baby, and keep you safe
And may He forget, baby
Where He kept you
So you don’t break my heart again, woh-oh-oh-oh
May God take care of you, baby, and keep you safe
And may He forget, baby
Where He kept you
So you don’t break my heart again, woh-oh-oh-oh
