Millions of people have been on alert this week, evacuating and protecting their homes and families as Hurricane Milton passed through Florida. The storm has left a devastating mark after making landfall near Siesta Key as a Category 3 hurricane. Over 3.2 million people are without power, at least 125 homes have been destroyed, and 19 tornadoes have struck various areas of the state.

Several Latin stars have shown solidarity with those going through tough times due to the hurricane. Bad Bunny was among the first, recalling the devastating Hurricane María of 2017, which caused widespread destruction and thousands of deaths. “To the Puerto Rican community living in Florida, to all those who arrived after experiencing María, Puerto Rico is with you,” he wrote on Instagram.

Other artists followed, including Shakira, who expressed her concern: «Thinking of everyone in Florida affected by Hurricane Milton, hope you’re all staying safe tonight.» Ozuna also shared a message: «To all my people in Florida, God is with you. To all my fans, let’s pray a lot for our people,» the singer urged. Rauw Alejandro even asked «Pray for Florida» on social media.

Fort Myers and Tampa Bay are among the most affected areas, experiencing severe flooding from heavy rains. Authorities have deployed rescue teams and 50,000 workers to restore power, with flood warnings continuing for central and northern Florida.

So far, at least four deaths have been confirmed in St. Lucie County, highlighting the human toll of the storm. Governor Ron DeSantis’ evacuations have affected 7.2 million residents across 15 counties. As the extent of the damage continues to be assessed, recovery will be a challenging process.

Although Hurricane Milton has weakened to a Category 1, it still poses a threat with heavy rains expected in the coming hours. Recovery efforts are ongoing, but authorities urge residents to stay indoors while emergency operations continue. The international community, including Latin artists, continues to offer support, joining forces to help Florida during this difficult time.
