Bichotas of the world, after touring the United States and Latin America, Karol G is ready to conquer Europe. The Latin sensation of the moment graces the cover of Vogue Spain’s July issue, reflecting on a year full of successes that will culminate next month with her summer tour.
“I feel like I have a heartache already. Knowing that it’s ending, that I’m singing the music from this album, in quotes, for the last time… Definitely, Spain will be very special because those four dates will be the last of the Mañana Será Bonito Tour worldwide,” Karol G tells the magazine.
But in this interview, the Bichota made the big announcement: she’s working on her next album!
After the end of her European tour, Karol G will close one of the most important eras of her discography. However, the artist is already thinking about what’s next. We can confirm that a new studio work is indeed on the way, as she has confirmed herself. “I’ve been working on my new album since the middle of last year. Even though I was already promoting Mañana Será Bonito, in June 2023, I had my first idea to start expressing things in my songs. This year, from January 2nd, after spending New Year’s Eve with my family in Colombia, I went to Los Angeles and started working day after day in the studio,” she says, assuring that she’s drawing inspiration from different women’s stories for the upcoming songs.
“At the shows on this tour, I receive many handwritten letters and I read about their experiences, especially the women’s. My social work with my foundation in prisons has also been a bit criticized,” Karol recalls. “I’ve learned incredible stories there, life realities that I haven’t gone through and couldn’t even imagine. So, I feel like I want to have more opportunities to speak for all these women from different perspectives. That’s what I think about the most when making music now.»
To conclude, Karol G shares her experience with Mañana Será Bonito. Even though this album became the most important of her career, she didn’t have an easy time in the months leading up to its release. “What happened with my album was a very special and unexpected connection because, to be honest, releasing this work was very difficult for me. I postponed it for six months,” she admits.
And she adds, “I was sick during the weeks leading up to the release because of the anxiety of exposing myself so much. I was very happy with its reception, but it also opened my mind to wanting to connect more through my songs, and I think you don’t have to talk only about heartbreak to do that. There are infinite situations that haven’t been explored as much, and I want to start talking about those in my upcoming compositions. That’s going to be the soul of what I do.”
