«The pauses are essential for human growth,» J Balvin recently confirmed his high-profile return to the music scene with his 8th studio album. The upcoming studio work, titled Rayo, will be released on August 9, and all the details have finally been revealed.

The successor to José (2021) will feature 15 songs, including tracks he has released over the past few months, such as ‘Gaga’ and ‘Polvo de tu Vida.’ There will also be major collaborations with artists like Bad Gyal, Feid, and Quevedo, among others.

«I’m back, recharged with energy, grateful, and enjoying music like when I first started. I present to you RAYO, an album I immensely enjoyed creating with the greats of music and new generations. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and feel the energy we felt while creating it ⚡️ Love you all. Jose P.S. RAYO was my first car ⚡️ August 9,» the Medellín native explained about the meaning behind the title of his new project.

«If @rayocarro could talk, it would tell so many funny stories 😂 RAYO represents that early stage, when we were just starting out, in schools, on the streets. Pre-save it in the description LEGO ⚡️ AUGUST 9 💿,» the soloist confirmed, revealing who funded his first car: «The story of Rayo is very special. It was my first car, a gift from my father, who worked hard to help me get started in my career, visiting studios, schools, and attending interviews. That’s what Rayo sounds like—those beginnings, my family’s support, that energy.»

In recent days, J Balvin has shared snippets of ‘Stoker,’ the song he collaborates on with Carín León, which seems poised to become the next single from this project. It looks like we’ll get a new music video at the beginning of August to promote the launch of his new album.

2024 marks the return of the Colombian artist, and we couldn’t be more excited. A few weeks ago, while Balvin was in Paris for one of his concerts, he told LOS40 exclusively that his album was already finished: «I took a wonderful break for myself, to reconnect, reinvent myself, and reconnect with my fans and new generations. So yes, the album is ready. Today I submitted the cover. Today, I swear,» he said with a big laugh.
