The 2024 Grammy Awards official nominee list was announced on Friday, November 10th, as one of the most important previews of what would be a 66th edition full of Girl Power. SZA, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Miley Cyrus are among the big names leading the ranking.
Moreover, in a year that has evidenced the great impact of Spanish-speaking music in the industry, we also want to highlight the significant role of our Latin and Spanish artists that have stand out among the 91 categories.
On the one hand, top 2023 Latin-Grammy nominee Edgar Barrera is competing for Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), while in the category of Best Latin Pop Album, Spanish artist Pablo Alborán has been nominated for “La Cuarta Hoja,” together with Colombian-American musician AleMor for “Beautiful Humans, Vol. 1,” Maluma for “Don Juan,” Paula Arenas for “A Ciegas,” Puerto Rican Pedro Capó for “La Neta,” and Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno for “X Mí (Vol. 1).”
In the Best Música Urbana Album section, we can find Karol G’s groundbreaking “Mañana Será Bonito,” Rauw Alejandro’s “Saturno,” and Tainy’s “DATA.”
In the Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, Juanes is competing with his latest studio work “Vida Cotidiana,” with Natalia Lafourcade for “De Todas Las Flores,” Fito Paez’s “Vida Cotidiana,” Cabra’s “Martínez,” and Diamante Electrico’s “Leche De Tigre.”
The Best Tropical Latin Album section is ruled by big Latin stars like Omara Portuondo, Rubén Blades, Luis Figueroa, Grupo Niche, and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, Tony Succa, and Mimy Succar, and Carlos Vives.
Finally, Mexican singer-songwriter Silvana Estrada is the only Latin artist in the Best Global Music Performance category for “Milagro y Desastre.”
