The latest film by Spanish director J. A. Bayona, recounting the tragedy and survival story of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 accident, has recently been released on Netflix.
«Society of the Snow» narrates the tragedy occurred in the Andes Mountains in 1972 when a plane with 45 people on board crashed, and only 16 survived, of whom only 14 are still alive today.
The film perfectly captures the anguish, fear, harshness, and horrors that the passengers had to endure during the accident and the months they spent surviving in the snowy terrain.
The film premiered in theaters in Uruguay and Spain in December 2023 and later, on January 4, was released on the well-known streaming platform: Netflix.
The cast includes great talents such as Enzo Vogrincic, Matías Recalt, Agustín Pardella, Felipe González Otaño, Luciano Chatton, Valentino Alonso, among others.
