Many celebrities were spotted in the stands at the Copa América final. From Maluma to J Balvin and Lele Pons, all attended to witness the much-anticipated Argentina-Colombia match, which ended with Lionel Messi’s team winning.
The ceremony gave us some great moments: from the first public kiss between Feid and Karol G to the reappearance of what was, until recently, one of Hollywood’s great couples, Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes.
Cabello and Mendes met in 2015 but made their relationship official in 2019. It was a strong bond, evidenced by multiple displays of affection over the years, but it ended in 2021. They briefly rekindled their relationship in 2023, only to break up definitively the same year. However, their joint appearance has led fans to wonder about their current status.
At Sunday’s match on July 14, Camila Cabello was seen smiling in the stands of the Hard Rock Stadium, the venue for the Copa América final. Attendees saw the former couple sharing moments of complicity and basically showing that they currently share good vibes.
It’s true that neither the ‘Havana’ singer, who just released her latest album (C’XOXO), nor Mendes have made any statements or confirmations about their status. However, the last time Camila spoke publicly about it, she assured that they maintain a good relationship.
In several interviews in March 2024, just before her latest studio work, Cabello elaborated on the topic, explaining why she briefly got back with Shawn.
“It’s crazy because I’m kind of impulsive in that way. If I feel it, I say it. I would rather say it and see what happens and then wake up the next day and find out that it’s been heavily documented. I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a fun time; it was a fun moment. I will always care about him and love him. He’s such a good person,” she revealed. “I’m lucky ’cause some people have exes who are awful, and he is not. He’s a really kind, good person. «[Breaking up] wasn’t even like a decision (…) I think you’re just kind of like, ‘Yeah, this doesn’t really… it’s not a fit—it doesn’t feel right. Luckily, I was in a place in my life where…it took us both less time to be like, ‘This doesn’t feel right, and we don’t really need to try so hard to make it work. It’s all good, let’s move on.’”
As mentioned earlier, neither Camila nor Shawn have made further statements on the matter, so we cannot confirm that they have resumed their romantic relationship. What is certain, for now, is that they maintain a good relationship.
