Anuel AA and Ibai Address What Happened at La Velada del Año IV

The Puerto Rican artist and the Spanish streamer have put their rivalry behind them

Anuel AA, known not only for his music but also for his controversies and feuds with various artists, had an awkward moment during his performance at ‘La Velada del Año IV,’ organized by Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos. To recap, the Puerto Rican singer was invited to be the closing act of the latest edition of ‘La Velada del Año’ on July 13, 2024.

However, he had a prior show, which caused him to arrive late. During his delay, Ibai had to stall for time, looking visibly nervous about Anuel’s tardiness. “I don’t know what else to do, someone do something,” he said anxiously to his production team during the live broadcast.

The Puerto Rican showed up two hours latealthough he claimed he was only 15 minutes late. If that wasn’t enough to annoy the attendees at the stadium, when he came out, something else happened. Anuel’s voice seemed altered, very high-pitched or with sound issues, which sparked a huge controversy on social media, accompanied by a wave of memes.

This led Anuel to react angrily to the reception of his performance, directly blaming Ibai. “They sabotaged my concert with that crap they pulled… Those guys know what they did with the system because they controlled the voices. That Ibai, the jerk,” he added, referring to the voice issues.

After this, a small ‘war’ of threats started between the two. Anuel posted a story saying he was ‘coming for’ Ibai, while the streamer responded that he wasn’t afraid. This naturally turned into one of the biggest ‘beefs’ of the year.

The Reconciliation

However, their anger didn’t last long. On Wednesday, July 17, both Anuel and Ibai Llanos announced on their social media that they had reconciled. They also mentioned that they would be doing a livestream on July 24 to explain what happened at ‘La Velada del Año.’ With a relaxed attitude and as if they were close friends, they talked as if their bad experience had never happened.

Anuel gave a more detailed account of his problem at the airport, explaining that more than half of his team couldn’t fly, so the event organizers simply tried to find a solution and rushed Anuel out without his team. The Puerto Rican artist made it clear that the issues at the event were beyond Ibai’s control and that he reacted the way he did out of frustration for not being able to deliver the show that the audience deserved.

He also mentioned that now, with a clear mind, he could see beyond the anger that led him to say everything he did and blame Ibai. Both the streamer and the singer talked about how challenging it is to carry out an event of that magnitude, live, and also broadcast it.

Unfortunately, Anuel’s planned performance with special guests like Ozuna, Yovngchimi, and Izaak couldn’t happen either. However, as Ibai mentioned during his conversation with the singer, “We can’t turn back time, and what’s done is done.” The good thing is that their conflict didn’t escalate further, and they showed us that problems can be resolved with communication and understanding.
