The collaboration between The Weeknd and Anitta came about unexpectedly. According to both artists, the idea arose when producer Mike Dean asked Anitta for a vocal recording for a special show in São Paulo. What started as a simple contribution turned into a full song when The Weeknd was impressed by the material sent by Anitta.
«Anitta is a great friend. What she sent was so incredible that we created the song,» The Weeknd shared in an interview. Anitta, for her part, expressed her surprise and excitement: «I wrote some verses as a joke and never imagined they would become serious. Suddenly, I received the finished song. I loved it! I felt very honored and flattered.»
