Harry Belafonte passed away on Tuesday morning (April 25) from congestive heart failure at home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He was 96 years old.
His sudden death has caused a great reaction among stars, celebrities, journalists, politicians and fans, who have paid tribute to the Jamaican-American singer, actor and activist.
Belafonte’s legendary trajectory will go down in history because of his multiple milestones, including the releasing of his breakthrough album ‘Calypso’, which was the first-million selling LP dropped by a single artist.
Tony Bennett, Questlove, Ice Cube, John Legend and Tom Morello are some of the artist that honored Belafonte in the last hours.

I loved Mr Belafonte and I’m so grateful for his revolutionary work and his massive influence on our nation and the world. I found out that he passed just before this interview. He worked so hard and did so much. May he get his well-deserved rest. https://t.co/8NJqNaHGBS
