Sebastian Yatra Releases New Song in English on LOS40: «A Heartbreak-Themed Track»

It's a perfect ballad for those with a broken heart

Sebastián Yatra had previously hinted that he was working on his fourth studio album. After releasing songs like «Una noche sin pensar,» «Energía Bacana,» and «Vagabundo,» Yatra had built up excitement for his upcoming album. He assured fans that he had a substantial amount of music prepared for this new project.

He shared on his WhatsApp channel –originally in Spanish, “For those who are looking for an album to dive into feelings of heartache, moments of despair, healing, fresh beginnings, feeling misunderstood by the world, and then finally feeling embraced by it, discovering their purpose…” Now, a month and a half later, we’ve been given a fresh glimpse into this upcoming album. During an interview with Roberto Cardona on 40 Copas de LOS40 Colombia, Yatra took out his phone and exclusively previewed a part of his new song.

“This is intriguing because I’ve never sung in English before, and here I have the beginning of the first English song I’ve ever performed,” Sebastián Yatra remarked. And with that, the guitar melody began, accompanied by the voice of the Colombian star: “We thought we had it all, and for a minute there, I guess maybe we did.”

First Song in English

As we can tell, this song, just from its opening line, touches on themes of heartbreak and fleeting happiness. It aligns with Yatra’s earlier mention of releasing emotionally resonant songs. While this track marks Yatra’s first solo venture into English, it’s not his first experience singing in the language. He previously recorded both Spanish and English versions of the song for the «Encanto» soundtrack. Notably, he performed the English version at the 2022 Oscars.

With this fourth studio album, following Dharma, Yatra might be aiming to expand his career into the English-speaking market with a potential hit single. The Colombian artist has not yet reached his peak and continues to nurture aspirations that await fulfillment.
