Rosalía And Björk Will Release Philanthropic Collab

The song is set to come out in October

In case you didn’t know, Rosalía and the renowned Icelandic singer Björk mutually admire each other. La Motomami has openly expressed for years that the Icelandic composer has been a significant source of inspiration throughout her career. However, the admiration is mutual. The «Army of Me» singer has become a genuine fan of Motomami’s music. Given this background, it was only a matter of time before they joined forces for a collaboration.

Björk made the announcement on her social media platforms, sharing a video on her Instagram. In the 75-second preview, both singers harmonize the chorus in unison, creating a distinctive, almost protest-like sound. The song’s title remains undisclosed, but it’s set to launch later this month. What sets this collaboration apart is its philanthropic purpose.

“I’m offering a song featuring Rosalía and me singing together. The profits will to fight against fish farming. It will come out in October,” the Icelandic artist announced on the same video. “People at the Seyðisfjörður have stood up and protested against fish farming starting there. We would like to donate sales of the song to help with their legal fees and hopefully it can an exemplary case for others,” she continued.

Björk also declared her native Iceland as “the biggest untouched nature in Europe and still today it has its sheep roaming free in the mountains; in the summers its fish have swum free in our lakes, rivers and fjords. So when Icelandic and Norwegian businessmen started buying fish farms in the majority of our fjords, it was a big shock and rose up as the main topic this summer. We don’t understand how they had been able to do this for a decade with almost no regulations stopping them.”

Iceland: One of Europe’s Most Untouched Natural Landscapes

As we mentioned before, Iceland boasts some of Europe’s most untamed and breathtaking natural landscapes. Björk’s stance is driven by her desire to safeguard the wonders of her homeland. She has made quite clear that she opposes the fishing industry and the mass-scale practice of fish farming, which can have detrimental effects on the environment and local ecosystems.

This unexpected collaboration has taken us by surprise, but we wholeheartedly embrace the coming together of these two musical stars for such a noble cause.
