Last weekend, the Cruilla Festival closed its doors after a series of successful days at the legendary Parc del Fórum in Barcelona. And it’s no wonder; apart from debuting as the first large-scale festival in the country to operate entirely on renewable energy, it made us groove to the rhythm of some of the biggest names in international music.
Even on its first day, Wednesday, July 5th, the festival’s urban itinerary started under cloudy skies in the Catalan capital. However, the timid drizzles didn’t deter hip-hop enthusiasts who came to see the Spanish artist Delaossa in the early afternoon, delivering powerful old-school rap and experimental elements sung at full blast. Cruz Cafuné, from the Canary Islands, did the same, grooving to the rhythm of his latest album, Me Muevo con Dios (2023). He also treated us to his collaboration with fellow Canarian Quevedo, ‘Sangre y Fe’.
But the night got to its climax with the iconic Nicki Nicole, who had a record attendance and a brilliant set centered around her latest album, ALMA (2023), her most personal release.
With a very careful staging, the Argentine singer presented several singles from her latest album, including ‘Tienes Mi Alma,’, ‘NO voy a Llorar :’),’ ‘8 A.M.’ (ft. Young Miko) and Caen Las Estrellas (ft. YSY A). A change of style that showed us a Nicki very focused on transmitting to her audience the true meaning of her latest studio work, achieving a unique and unforgettable connection with the audience. She also sang some previous and epic ones like ‘Colocao,’ ‘Entre Nosotros,’ ‘Mamichula’ (ft. Trueno), and her highly anticipated collaboration with Bad Gyal, ‘Enamórate.’
She achieved numerous hits like the aforementioned ‘Colocao’ and ‘Wapo Traketero,’ establishing herself as the most listened-to female artist from Argentina on streaming platforms. Following Nicole’s separation from Trueno, which revealed a vulnerability beneath her tough exterior, she embraced the beauty in her vulnerability through her album ‘ALMA.’
Her latest studio work also includes several captivating collabs with Milo J, Young Miko, Rels B and more.
