Sad news for the magical world: Irish actor Michael Gambon has passed away at the age of 82 this Thursday, September 28, as announced by his family. The British artist spent his entire life on stage, being one of the most renowned actors in London’s theater scene. Such was his passion for acting that in 1998, Queen Elizabeth II herself knighted him for his contribution to the United Kingdom’s performing arts.
Although the actor was a celebrity in the UK, many people remember him for his role as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films: one of the most significant magical sagas in the history of cinema. Michael took on the role starting from the third installment, «The Prisoner of Azkaban,» after Richard Harris (the previous Dumbledore) passed away in 2004. Gambon continued in the role for the next six films of the franchise, becoming one of the most beloved and remembered characters.
