Miguel Cantos Gómez (Granada, Spain, 2002), increasingly known internationally under his stage name, Saiko, is one of those new promises changing the game in the urban genre.
Producer, composer and perfomer, he started on the scene at just 14 years old, in freestyle battles, continuing alongside his brother in the duo Wido y Saiko in 2019. In 2020, he launched his solo career with the songs «Te quiero fuera» and «Tropically,» in which he dares to experiment with Afro sounds. Now, with only 20 years old, Saiko is one of the rising stars in the current urban music scene.
He started gaining relevance in Spain after dropping songs like «Cosas Que No te Dije,» «Confía,» «Humedad,» and «Guaraná», among others. He released his debut EP, 1371 KM in 2022, including songs like «Fantasmita,» and «San Walter». Some months later he lauch his second EP, 2 Opciones.
In Saiko’s musical trajectory we can find two main influences: a hard-hitting trap influenced by American rappers and a sweeter reggaeton vibe that he infuses with many other genres. The Andalusian artist is rising to the top of the industry thanks to his two big hits: «Polaris,» which describes a sentimental story of an unrequited long-distance love in first person, and «Supernova,» its continuation.
Both songs have achieved a great reception on digital platforms, with millions of streams and pleays, leading Saiko to collaborate with some of the most referential names of the urban genre, such as Mora, Quevedo and Feid in «Polaris – Remix,» where each one of them brings their own style and verses to the already known hit of the Spanish artist. In addition, thanks to milestones like this, Saiko managed to go on an international tour with the aforementioned Colombian reggaetonero.
As indicated above, «Polaris» is, in fact, a love letter to the rhythm of drum and bass. It is the story of a love that is left halfway, that never ends up being reciprocated by the girl Saiko is talking about. «Polaris» actually means «polar star», which is the one the artist wants to turn to in order to be guided to the person he loves. A story that the artist has confirmed on several occasions that it is based on real events.
But how did the successful Polaris remix come about? His friend, Spanish reggaeton star Quevedo told Feid to listen to Saiko’s music. A remix that took almost a year due to the particularities of each artist, and that Saiko himself put together, as he revealed in the Club 113 podcast. The famous junte reached the top of several rankings on Spotify, also entering the Billboard Top 200.

You are in another place
I am in Medellin and I started thinking of you
Same desires, different city, but we’re nothing
I want to understand you, but I don’t understand anything
(Saiko)
I don’t know what you want
Or what you’re thinking, but I think of you here
Sometimes, it seems like you don’t care
You take away the sparkle from my eyes whenever you leave
(Feid)
Miles away from you
Let Polaris guide me to reach you
When I’m with you, sometimes I don’t even know what to say
And that’s not how I used to be
But you have me here
(Saiko)
Miles away from myself
Let Polaris guide me to reach you
When I’m with you, sometimes I don’t even know what to say
And that’s not how I used to be
(Mora)
Let Polaris guide me, I’ll get to you on a Can-Am
I don’t give it to anyone who claims to be my fan
The van is ready to party
Mom, I’m not that guy, you’re my plan A
I already tried my plan B
If you want, we can do it again
No one saw us, only the wall was a witness
And you’re calm, I didn’t tell anyone
When we’re alone, alone
I touch you, and down there it cries, cries
But out of happiness
Being inside you brings me stability
And when we’re alone, alone
I touch you, and down there it cries, cries
But out of happiness
Today, we damaged the friendship, yeah
(Quevedo)
Being clear and honest with you, ma’
I don’t understand why you don’t tell him
That he doesn’t make you happy
You can’t even imagine how much I want to walk
By your side on Playa del Ingles
Because I know you miss me as I miss you
On the plane, you told me, ‘I’ll wait for you in the bathroom’
Heading to Columbia to relive those years
When we drank alcohol, baby, and between a couple of drinks, I kissed you
And even as time goes by, baby, I always waited for you
Desire to tell the world
That even if I see you from behind, I won’t confuse you
You don’t know how many nights I prayed
I was listening to Myke Towers when I found you again, eh-eh
(Mora)
A mile away from me
Let Polaris guide me to reach you
You leave me breathless, not knowing what to say
I swear, I wasn’t like this before
(Saiko)
Why not give it a try?
I know sometimes we won’t sleep because of our arguments
Also, that we won’t go a day without talking
Screw fear, I want to experience it
Even if it hurts, kills me, or I die
Even if distance doesn’t kill, the desire surely does, yes
I want to see you, but I have to hold back
In the end, it got late, but I showed you Granada
And you showed me every inch of your skin
For you, I gave up everything
What was all of this for?
Now you’re with someone else, but you think of me
Who’s better than me? Tell me who
We’re nothing, yet I’m faithful to you, yeah
Baby, what are you going to do tonight?
I was listening to FERXXO and I remembered you, yeah, eh
(Feid)
Wow, posting things on Twitter
You’re a gem, baby, you’re a keeper
My buddies say I shouldn’t get hooked
But that curvy girl, I always wanted her
She dressed like a rapper, I went to the club with her
I touched her so much that I erased all the marks
That they left on her skin, I spoke to her like Eliel did
Damn, how fucked up is that I’ll never see you again
I go to parties, but thinking about seeing you
You have me quarantined, but it’s not 2020
Baby, what are you going to do tonight?
I saw your story, listening to Saiko, baby, yeah
(Mora)
You’re from another city
My mind is with you there, yours is somewhere else
This has gone beyond a simple friendship
I’d like to see you, but you’re not posting anything
(Saiko)
I don’t know what you want
(Quevedo)
Or what you’re thinking, but I think of you here
But it seems like you don’t care
(Mora)
I don’t know where to look when you feel like looking at me
(Quevedo)
Miles away from me
Let Polaris guide me to reach you
When I’m with you, sometimes I don’t even know what to say
(Mora)
And that’s not how I used to be
But you have me here
Yeah, baby, tonight I’m going to see you
With everything that happened, I recorded a song and it stuck, yeah, yeah
