Megan Fox announced through her Instagram the upcoming release of her debut book, titled «Pretty Boys are Poisonous,» in which she will discuss the secrets and sins of her ex-partners, all while tackling the misogyny prevalent in Hollywood. Fox’s announcement came only a month after Britney Spears’ memoir book.

Pretty Boys are Poisonous

Though the book’s official launch is still on the horizon (scheduled for release on November 7th, 2023), the book is already available for pre-order and will be published under the prestigious Gallery Books label, a division of Simon & Schuster. The project by 37-year-old Fox is already creating a buzz, starting with the theme of her book, assuring that the most toxic relationships in her life have been with men.

While the book is autobiographical in nature, it’s written with a unique «poetic» format. This creative choice is expected to bring to light various men who were part of her past relationships. With nearly 80 poems lined up, according to the official synopsis, Fox will captivate readers with her distinct, dark, and haunting sense of humor throughout a collection of poetry.

Aiming to liberate herself from the weight of «carrying the sins of men,» Fox, renowned for her role in Transformers, expresses how the act of writing this book has become a therapeutic journey. Her mission extends beyond personal catharsis, as she hopes her words will resonate and empower others to identify and stand up against abuse, ultimately discovering their own voice.

Hollywood

Fox has openly discussed the misogyny she faced during the early stages of her Hollywood career, and it’s reasonable to expect that she will touch upon this aspect within the pages of her inaugural book.

I think that I was ahead of the #MeToo movement by almost a decade. I was always speaking out against some of the abusive, misogynistic, patriarchal things that were going on in Hollywood back in 2008 and 2009, way before people were ready to embrace that or tolerate it. And I actually got ridiculed for doing it. I think people just have had time to review that, in retrospect” –Fox told Glamour UK in 2022.

Megan recalled an early experience in the industry when she landed a minor role in the 2003 film «Bad Boys II.» In this production, she had to dance under a waterfall in a bikini, cowboy hat and high heels  –a scene she performed at the age of 15. While filming other renowned productions, Fox also mentioned, “I wasn’t allowed to be a human, because I was a topic of conversation and gossip and punch lines.”
