Machine Gun Kelly usually gives something to talk about, and this time is about his performance at Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, where he surprised his fans by singing a cover of a song, completely out of his usual style genre, Danza Kuduro by the Puerto Rican singer, Dom Omar.
Spain, thank you so much for welcoming me to your country. I can feel all the love here today. So, in return, I’d like to sing, with all of you, a song in your language. Let’s go!”
@machinegunkellyhaters will say i switched genres again.♬ original sound – the blonde don
The musician’s comment section was filled with fans surprised that he can speak Spanish so fluently —and a co-sign by Don Omar himself, who commented, “🤟🏾🔥”.
As said on an interview in Power 106’s The Cruz Show he said that he spoke Spanish with Camilla Cabello after their collab in “Bad Things”, so he probably likes the language. But he’s not the only one who has sung in Spanish, but also Billie Eillish, Snoop Dog, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and the well known, Nicki Minaj.
On September 25, 2017, Billie posted on her YouTube a cover of herself singing Carla Morrison’s song Eres tú completely in Spanish, delighting us with her unique voice. Back then she wasn’t the icon she’s today, but the truth is that she has always been super talented.
Let’s not forget that she also released a collab with Rosalía, singing parts of the song in Spanish.
Back in 2020, when we were all at our houses because of the COVID pandemic, and when Regional Mexican music wasn’t as popular as it is today, Banda MS and Snoop Dogg shocked us with their collab song Que maldición, where Snoop delights us with a rap verse in Spanglish.
Si me necesitas I’ll arrive, believe me D-O-GG soy tu perrito yo allá.”
This was the first collab where The Weeknd sung in Spanish. In the remix version of Maluma’s hit song Hawái, we can hear the Canadian singing:
Puede que no te haga falta nada, aparentemente nada, Hawái de vacaciones, mis felicitaciones. Muy lindo en Instagram lo que posteas, pa’que yo vea, pa’que yo vea…”
He later collaborate with Rosalía’s song La Fama.
In 2017, the Beliebers –and non Beliebers– were a bit shocked after the release version of the already famous song Despacito, where he proved his Spanish singing skills in the chorus of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s song.
Even though she didn’t sing much, the song was a smashing hit back in 2019, so, it had to be on this list, as it was no.1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart in The United States and became the first song by two leading female artists to debut at the top of the chart.
Pero hice todo ese llanto por nada. Ahora soy una chica mala” –became quite iconic for some time.
