Lana del Rey is making headlines, and this time, it’s not because of her music but her financial generosity. The singer, songwriter, model, and poet, who recently wrapped up a worldwide tour with a final show in Charleston, South Carolina, made a noteworthy announcement during her latest concert. She revealed that during the entire tour following the release of her ninth album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, she has been giving away the money earned from ticket sales to the cities where she and her team performed.
“I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ and just every city I’ve gone to before this. And also I wanna let you know, for what is worth, every ticket, every dollar, it is poured right back into the city,” declared the artist on the stage of the Charleston Coliseum, leaving both the audience and the worldwide press in awe. She emphasized that performing live, for her, is not about the money: “Because it’s not about that for me. And I know that that sounds cheesy, but I do it cause I love it, I need to. I just love it. And we’re all about the places that we’ve been to, and I have a deep appreciation for all the places we’ve had the privilege to visit.” Of course, she received a resounding applause from her devoted fans, who wasted no time in showing their appreciation.

While the artist didn’t delve into specifics regarding her donations, she did not clarify whether the funds contributed by her fans through ticket sales are allocated to local administrations or specific charitable organizations. Nevertheless, she expressed profound satisfaction with her decision and joy in sharing it with everyone who joined her during the final concert of a tour that took her to various cities, including Columbia, Franklin, Dallas, Austin, Mexico City, Quebec, London, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro.
Even though Lana del Rey’s announcement is currently dominating headlines in the music press, her fans are not surprised. This is not the first time that Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, better known as Lana del Rey, has generously donated a portion of her earnings to causes she passionately supports.
One of her most notable acts of philanthropy took place in 2020 when she decided to channel the $350,000 advance provided by the Simon and Schuster publishing company for her debut book, ‘Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass,’ towards the Dig Deep Water project. This initiative provided clean drinking water to several of the most underprivileged communities within the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation in the United States.“I personally have always believed in personal reparations to give back to the people who have shaped our land,” expressed the artist.
