We are getting closer and closer to seeing Jenna Ortega back on the big screen, this time alongside Paul Rudd, in the upcoming «Death of a Unicorn.» A creative title that perfectly captures the little we know about its plot: a father and daughter who, on their way home, run over a unicorn. The film will start shooting soon in Hungary and will be directed by Alex Scharfman, who is also in charge of the script.

The production is taking place amid a tense industry strike, but SAG-AFTRA has reportedly authorized this and 38 other independent productions as they are not affiliated with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Ortega’s Breakthrough in the Industry

Ortega rose to fame after playing the titular role of Wednesday Addams in the popular Netflix comedy horror series Wednesday (2022), although she had already played some interesting roles in productions like the film Saving Flora (2018), the Netflix thriller series You (2019), the teen drama film The Fallout (2021), and both Scream and X (both in 2022).

Recently, she has become the first-ever Latina since 2007 to Receive an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress (Comedy), and the third and youngest one to receive the nod. In fact, Wednesday, which is the second most-streamed English language series of all time on Netflix, earned 12 Emmy nominations.

“What wonderful news to hear the Wednesday team has received twelve Emmy nominations. I’ve been so fortunate to witness first hand the incredible time/effort being put in by our cast, crew, writers, and directors, and feel so excited to be able to share this with them,” she wrote on Instagram.
