J Balvin Confirms Upcoming Joint Album with Ed Sheeran

Great news! Ed Sheeran and J Balvin are releasing a joint album. This was announced by J Balvin in an interview with Nylon magazine. The Colombian artist is making his comeback to music in a big way, two years after the release of his album «Jose» (2021). Moreover, the reggaeton star will be releasing a new solo album before the end of 2023.

Balvin has stated that the album is well underway and will feature a mix of old-school reggaeton with afrobeats. In fact, the artist has described the first single from this project, «Click, Click, Flash,» as a dembow filled with the sounds of paparazzi cameras. So, J Balvin’s new studio work is expected to be full of surprises.

Joint Album with Ed Sheeran

But what caught our attention in his interview with Nylon was the bombshell he dropped. The artist confirmed that he has an album prepared with Ed Sheeran and it will be released in 2024. It’s mind-blowing!

It’s true that the two artists get along wonderfully and have already collaborated in the past. They joined forces on songs like «Sigue» and «Forever My Love,» two songs they released in 2022.

J Balvin explains that this album came about naturally: «It emerged in an organic, natural way. We met, had coffee, ran into each other at the gym, at the hotel.» Moreover, the singer assures us that it’s going to be an album that will generate a lot of buzz «because it’s like merging two worlds.»

An Album We Weren’t Sure Would See The Light of Day

J Balvin talked about this album a few weeks ago on the show «Hotboxin» with Mike Tyson. The Colombian artist confirmed that they had recorded 20 songs with the British. Quite a crazy task to select the ones they wanted!

«I wanted us to create something big. I wanted us to do it in Spanish. He’s a great musician. He has that something special. It was amazing to work with him. We made an entire album that hasn’t been released yet. I think it was around 20 songs or so,» confessed J Balvin on Hotboxin.
