It was supposed to be one of the tech world’s biggest events of the year between two globally renowned figures. Notice the use of «supposed to be» because it seems it’s not going to happen anymore. The highly publicized duel that was set to pit Elon Musk against Mark Zuckerberg is going to fizzle out if we take Zuckerberg’s words into account.
Through his newly created social network Threads, he explained in a message that the owner of Twitter (and Tesla, SpaceX, etc.) had let him down when it came to organizing this event. Without saying it outright but leaving no doubt, he explains that there didn’t seem to be a willingness to face off in the ring.

Even though Musk has tried to discredit Mark Zuckerberg by publishing their private chat conversations, where he proposes training in his octagon, the truth is that Zuckerberg asks Musk for a real date and to train seriously to face him.
The response from the current owner of Twitter has been not to provide an exact date for the fight but to post a message calling him a chicken: «Zuck is a chicken.»

Although Zuckerberg has assured he’s more than ready for the fight, it appears that in the end, the highly anticipated showdown of the year is going to amount to nothing, and we’ll miss out on watching their fight on stage under MMA rules. The chief executive of Meta added, «I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.»

The event also loses its charitable aspect and the epic setting that had been promised at the Colosseum in Rome. But, as we already know, Mr. Musk has a history of public advertisements that ultimately don’t come to fruition.
