It’s been 15 years since the Twilight saga took over the movie theaters. Stephenie Meyer’s original vampire story made its way to the big screen under the direction of Catherine Hardwicke, and each of the five movies became a huge hit. Now, Catherine Hardwicke, the film director has hinted that there might be a fresh start in the works.
After the first movie hit in 2008, the actors at the center of the Twilight saga, like Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan), Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black), became big stars. Their lives haven’t been the same since they tasted fame through these blockbuster films. In reality, the love story between vampires and humans, which initially lived only in books, became a global sensation. People everywhere were talking about ‘Team Edward’ or ‘Team Jacob,’ and Twilight was on everyone’s lips.
What we do know is that the director of the first Twilight movie already has some actors in mind for two of the main roles. During a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Hardwicke mentioned actress Jenna Ortega (known for her role as Wednesday) as a great choice to play the young Swan. She praised her as an ‘incredible’ actress, although no formal agreements have been made. She also mentioned that there are many talented young actors these days.
And, of course, they couldn’t forget about the actor to play the mysterious Cullen. The filmmaker expressed excitement about the possibility of Jacob Elordi (known for his role in Euphoria) taking on the role. She said, “I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today.” As for who might play the young werewolf, Hardwicke dropped a hint by mentioning model Lewis Tan, who had auditioned for the role back in the day but ultimately lost out to Lautner.
