There's a wildfire of rumors surrounding the cast & three major actors are in the spotlight

The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Dumbo, Mulan, Snow White… Remember them? Well, in 2022, the buzz started when Disney announced they’re bringing one of the all-time favorites, Hercules, to life in a live-action adaptation. Fast forward to this year, and the rumor mill has been on fire about who’s going to make the cut in the cast a big deal for any remake.

Now, let’s talk about those revamped classics: some hits, some misses it’s been a wild ride. However, Guy Ritchie, the director of the live-action Aladdin (2019), made it rain at the box office. So, no surprise that Disney put their faith in him again, this time with the iconic Hercules from 1997. The live action kicked off pre-production for its feature film on its 25th anniversary.

The goal is to breach the billion-dollar mark once again, something that the previous Ritchie film adaptation managed to surpass. Producers Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War) are the producers of this project, which could hit screens in 2024.

Who’s Gonna Be in It?

Hercules isn’t just another walk in the park when it comes to casting. We’re talking about mythical creatures, epic battles, and larger-than-life gods—hello, CGI. Now, when it comes to the flesh-and-blood actors, there’s a big question mark hanging over whether they’ll bring in familiar faces or fresh talents, like they’ve done in the past.

However, whispers in the Hollywood breeze (specifically from Daniel Richtman, a well-known Hollywood insider) suggest a couple of headline names.

Rumor has it, the charismatic Taron Egerton and Ariana Grande are stepping into the spotlight for this one. Egerton, the young actor who rocked the Kingsman series and portrayed Elton John in Rocketman, might just be our new Hercules.

And Ariana Grande, the former Nickelodeon star, is apparently up for the role of Megara, the hero’s great love.

Certainly, Ariana would be perfect for the role, not only because she fits Megara’s physical characteristics, but also because she possesses a voice that even the gods of Olympus would envy. And of course we would be pleased to hear her version of «I Won’t Say I’m In Love (No Diré Que Es Amor)» on the Big Screen.

Another substantial rumor regarding the cast involves the potential return of Danny DeVito, who might reprise his role as Phil (he voiced the character in the animated film from the ’90s). It’s said that Disney is cooking up some negotiation magic.

Sadly, nothing’s set in stone, and confirmation of participation is still pending from Disney or the stars themselves. But as of now, this is what we know. So, what’s your take on this potential dream team?
