Gloria Trevi, the singer of ‘Todos Me Miran,’ stands tall as one of the most successful Latin divas in history. She’s a pioneer in the industry, and someone who broke social barriers. In the ’90s, when issues predominantly impacting women were unspoken, and mental health (or even ‘girl power’) wasn’t yet a topic of discussion, Gloria Trevi was already making her mark.
On August 11th, her biographical series ‘Ellas Soy Yo’ (They Are Me) premiered, starring the actress, Scarlet Gruber. Nearly 20 years after being declared innocent of charges of corruption of minors and kidnapping due to lack of evidence, Trevi tells her story.
According to the official synopsis from TelevisaUnivision:
Gloria de los Ángeles Treviño Ruíz, at just fifteen years old, travels from Monterrey to Mexico City to participate in a television contest. A man twice her age gazes at her from the screen. He will become her mentor and later her predator. Over the next 17 years, he will subject her to a terrifying journey in which, after achieving success and fame, she will lose everything and must struggle to survive and rebuild herself.»

According to El Tiempo Latino, Trevi explained that she shares her story not to cleanse her image, but because she’s conscious that many people experience similar situations.
«Today, I’m going to expose myself, not for me, because I’m fine. I’m going to do it for those people who might see a reflection of themselves in me,» she added. «For those who believe there’s no way out today, who think they have to endure it all for the sake of those who swallow their tears, because ‘ellas soy yo’ (I am them).»

The series is an original production of the streaming platform Vix, so users who are subscribed to the platform’s premium service (only) will be able to watch the entire series.
According to DallasNews, ViX+ is also available for the United States through a monthly subscription of $6.99, providing access to over 10,000 hours of Spanish content.
However, the first episode is available for free on YouTube.
In June, Trevi recently released «Medusa» as her inaugural single since becoming an independent artist following the conclusion of her over 18-year contract with Universal Music. Then, on August 11th, she premiered her bio-series ‘Ellas Soy Yo,’ and just yesterday, August 15th, she unveiled her fourteenth studio album, Mi Soundtrack Vol. 1.

My soundtrack is the soundtrack of many people, and I hope it continues to provide music for new stories. Have fun, cry, and live your life with these new versions…”
The album is a component of the bio-series and features nine reworked tracks from Gloria Trevi’s discography, drawn from her albums ¿Qué Hago Aquí? (What am I doing here?, 1989), Me Siento Tan Sola (I Feel So Alone, 1992), Si Me Llevas Contigo (If you take Me with You, 1995), and Como Nace El Universo (How the Universe is Born, 2004), along with two new tracks: «Que Se Acabe El Mundo» (Let the World End) and «Te Diré Que Sí» (I’ll Tell You Yes, the original version of «Vestida de Azúcar»).
This song is among the new tracks. The music video was directed by Pablo Croce and includes the involvement of actress Regina Villaverde, who portrays Gloria Trevi during her adolescence and early career years in the series ‘Gloria Trevi: Ellas Soy Yo.’
The song, as described by the artist, delves into themes of both love and terror, with its composition reflecting these psychological elements. Just like Trevi expressed, it captures the emotions most teenagers experience with their initial encounter with love and the potential hazards tied to forbidden love.
This is a reality that’s often difficult for us to acknowledge during our youth. We tend to disregard or ignore advice from adults when they warn us about potential dangers.
I shouldn’t
Desire your arms
Bite your lips
I’m a girl
It’s what they think, it’s what they say
But secretly
The moon breaks through my window and I grow wings
And I fly towards you
And let the world end
Let everything fade away, but never you
You are my sun, my sky
And let the world end
To make it anew, in the midst of your kisses
To make that happen to us
When you touch me, they’re not butterflies
They’re crazy fireflies and everything ignites
If I shine with you, no matter the punishment
I don’t feel lonely
When I’m with you
I’m not the same
Your music flies through my hair
And you fascinate me
If no one understands what we have
I would escape
The moon breaks through my window and I grow wings
And I fly towards you
And let the world end
Let everything fade away, but never you
You are my sun, my sky
And let the world end
To make it anew, in the midst of your kisses
To make that happen to us
Between my dolls and my pink quilt
They don’t see that I’ve changed
And that there are no locks to keep us apart
I don’t feel lonely
When I’m with you
I don’t feel lonely.
