Angus Cloud catapulted to stardom with his breakout role as ‘Fezco’ in HBO’s critically acclaimed series ‘Euphoria’ back in 2019. In the show, he portrayed a sweet-natured drug dealer who deeply cared for his community, especially his (adopted) brother Ash(tray) and her friend Rue, a drug addict brilliantly portrayed by Zendaya.

Angus’s remarkable performance earned him praise from both critics and audiences, establishing him as a talented and versatile actor in the industry. His character’s genuine compassion and complex personality made him one of the standout roles in the series.

Sadly, his family announced his death to CNN in a statement.

It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

Undoubtedly, it’s an incredibly devastating moment for Angus Cloud’s family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.

We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone” his family added.

From Brooklyn to Hollywood

In a March interview with iD, Angus revealed that he had no aspirations of becoming a celebrity. His journey to fame resembles a perfect Hollywood discovery story, a rarity in today’s world, where he was scouted by a casting agent while living in Brooklyn.

I definitely thought it could be some kind of scam” Angus declared.

But it wasn’t a scam, the casting agent was legit, and that led Angus to attend an audition. Even though they didn’t tell him anything about Euphoria, when they brought him back and showed him the role, he understood it right away.

In my mind I was like, they stopped me because I look like I could be a star? Then I’m like, no, it’s because I look like I could be a drug dealer.”

After Euphoria premiered in the summer of 2019, fame came rushing toward Angus like a speeding train. However, he pointed out, «The difference between me and everyone else who’s famous is that they were actively seeking fame, putting in hard work and aiming for the top. In my case, it was an incredible opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. I never imagined it would take me this far.»

Euphoria

‘Euphoria’ is a drama series that first aired in 2019. The series is set in a suburban town, revealing the raw and often intense experiences of its characters, exploring the challenges they face in a world filled with social media, peer pressure, societal expectations, and how it impacts on their mental health. Each episode peels back the layers of their lives, exposing their vulnerabilities, desires, and struggles.

At the center of the story is Rue Bennett, portrayed by Zendaya, a 17-year-old struggling with drug addiction and looking for her place in the world. Alongside her are a diverse group of characters, including Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer), a trans girl who moves to town and seeks connection and acceptance, and Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), a charismatic yet troubled high school athlete.

‘Euphoria’ has received critical acclaim for its exceptional storytelling, outstanding performances, and dazzling visuals. It became quite popular because of its exploration of the complexities of relationships, and the search for self-discovery in an often tumultuous and chaotic world. It fearlessly addresses difficult and taboo topics, portraying the realities of teenage life with a raw and unapologetic approach, and how they navigate the turbulent journey to adulthood.
