The Puerto Rican would not have approved the message dedicated to the British singer at the show

Bad Bunny made history last weekend by becoming the first Latino to headline Coachella. However, fans of Harry Styles (who headlined the festival last year) were upset after his performance. While the Puerto Rican artist was performing ‘El Apagón’ from his latest album ‘Un Verano Sin Ti‘, a controversial tweet appeared on the giant screen behind him. It read «goodnight benito could do as it was but harry coul never do el apagaón«.

Bad Bunny Distances Himself from the Polemic

A representative for Bad Bunny told Rolling Stone magazine that the artist declined to comment, but confirmed that he did not approve of the image displaying the tweet directed at Styles. This information was also confirmed by Sturdy.Co, the visual content company that designed his Coachella set.

In response to the recent diss, Sturdy.Co also released an statement on Instagram last Monday reacting to the polemic: “Our intention is to create light hearted designs that embody Bad Bunny’s personality and amplify the experience he presents as a performer. The request from the artist during the visuals for ‘El Apagón’ performance was to use the image only and not text from the tweet, which we take responsibility for and correct it for Friday’s performance. These visuals are a celebration of Bad Bunny and his dedication to empowering his native island, Puerto Rico”.

Neither Bad Bunny nor Harry Styles have publicly commented on this issue.

Despite the polemical situation, Bad Bunny’s concert will go down in history. The global star showed one more time why he is the present of reggaeton, putting on an incredible dazzling show. He set the scene on fire with his arrival and brought some of the hits that have catapulted him to a great success worldwide, like ‘Tití Me Preguntó’, ‘Moscow Mule’, ‘La Difícil’, ‘Yo Perreo Sola’, ‘Safaera and even older remixes as 2018’s Te Boté. He invited great musical guests such as Ñengo Flow, Jowell y Randy, Post Malone and Jhay Cortez ‘Jhayco’.
