Bad Bunny and Grupo Frontera bring a fresh take on regional Mexican music with their new collaboration ‘un x100to’. In less than 24 hours after its release, the song has reach the #1 position on the Spotify Global and US charts, amassing more than 4,3 million streams.

In the song, the Puerto Rican artist and the Mexican group talk about using the last 1% of their phone battery to call their ex. Here they expose the feeling of regret after a love breakup and the necessity of apologizing after hurting the one you love.

The chorus “Me queda un 1% / y lo usaré solo para decirte lo mucho que lo siento / que si me ven con otra en una disco solo es perdiendo el tiempo / baby ¿pa’ qué te miento? / eso de que me vieron feliz no es cierto” can be translated to «I have 1% left / and I’ll use it just to tell you how sorry I am / that if I’m seen with someone else at the club it’s just wasting my time / baby, why I am lying to you? / that they saw me happy is not true”.

Regional Mexican Boom

Grupo Frontera is one of the regional Mexican groups contributing to the internationalization of the genre. In 2022, the band scored multiple hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, including their hit song “No Se Va.” They belong to a group of artists that are renewing the scene with new rhythms and fresh styles. Carin León, Peso Pluma and Grupo Firme are some of the main names that are bringing innovative and viral hits in the last months.
